Slumdog-sweetheart Freida Pinto, Aishwarya Rai and Sonam Kapoor are inadvertently stepping on each other’s toes.
Or so say reports. It is being said that a big brand that has Ash representing them overseas and Sonam in the Indian market, is also signing Freida Pinto as another of their international models. If this is true, then Freida will be walking the red carpet at all major international film festivals next year with Aishwarya for company.
Freida, who has bagged films with Hollywood biggies Julian Schnabel and Woody Allen, is also expected to be on the jury of some of the biggest film festivals in 2010. Sonam on the other hand may be the face of yet another watch brand for the Indian market.

Miss Virginia 2009, Maegan Elizabeth Phillips is a 22 year old senior majoring in psychology and business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Maegan was raised in Centreville, Virginia from the age of two, and completed the first three years of her college education at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. At GMU Maegan was a member of many clubs and organizations, including Alpha Omicron Pi, an all women’s fraternity focused on philanthropy and community service. She is currently an intern for the REU program at UNCC where she works on a research project with psychologists at the University.
Maegan’s family now lives in Quantico, and she currently works for her father’s defense contracting company on the Quantico Marine Corps base in Virginia. Along with working, Maegan has been involved with many volunteer organizations, such as the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Southwestern Youth Association, the Humane Society, the Arthritis Foundation, and Best Buddies Virginia. In her spare time, Maegan enjoys cooking, reading, taking her bulldog for long walks, playing piano and traveling.
After college, Maegan plans to obtain a PhD in clinical psychology and have her own practice. During her reign as MISS VIRGINIA USA, she plans to raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects 30,000 Americans and about 70,000 children and adults worldwide. She will compete for the title of MISS USA® in April, 2009 with the finals being telecast live on NBC April 19, 2009 from the Planet Hollywood Resort.

The ‘Lakeview Terrace’ star will star in David Mamet’s upcoming play ‘Race,’ set to start previews at New York City’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Nov. 17.
Producers are keeping mum about the actual plot of the show, which also stars James Spader and Richard Thomas ,and will mark Mamet’s 50th year on Broadway.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai police may soon issue a non-bailable arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan for hurting the sentiments of the Muslims.
An FIR was lodged against the actor by a Muslim group Mumbai Aman Committee which took objection to Shahrukh Khan’s remarks about Prophet Mohammad in a recent interview to the Time n Style magazine.
Shahrukh had issued a clarification saying it was an printing error and said he did not want to hurt anybody. He also had added that that he believed Prophet Mohammad was one of the most important figures in history.
His clarification however hasn’t calm down the sentiments of the people and Bandra based businessman Khalid Babu Qureshi has dragged the actor and the magazine to the court.
A lot of people in the industry have been wondering why Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been working so hard lately even as she balances her time
between her two sets of parents at Jalsa (the Bachchans) and La Mer (the Rais).
Fact is that Aishwarya is in a hurry to finish up all her pending assignments so that she can keep a part of the year 2010 free for family affairs, and that includes motherhood.
A source close to the couple said, “The two of them are fed up of relatives, strangers and relative strangers asking them when the stork is visiting. Secretly, they feel pressurised. It’s as if their parenthood is a public issue. Even when they are at airports waiting to board flights, over-exuberant ladies rush to them with an inquisitive look on their eager faces. Even before these fans open their mouth, Abhishek knows exactly what the question is, and he gets visibly annoyed. Aishwarya handles such over-inquisitive attention far more graciously.”
Luckily there has been absolutely no peer pressure on Abhishek or Aishwarya about parenthood from either side. Neither the Bachchans nor the Rais are the type who badger their children asking when will they start a family.
But Aishwarya already has a plan, and parenthood probably comes next year when she completes her pending assignments, and that includes a parade of topnotch films including Vipul Shah’s Action Replay, Shankar’s Robot, Mani Ratnam’s Raavana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish for which Aishwarya starts shooting in Goa in August, followed by Abhinay Deo’s Crooked.
In addition there are filmmakers like Rohan Sippy, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rituparno Ghosh and Ashutosh Gowariker waiting patiently in the queue to sign her.
A source said, “This no doubt is the busiest phase of Aishwarya’s career. Such a flurry of assignments has never been seen before in any married actress’ life and she’d be foolish to let such opportunities slip by. Luckily, Abhishek is thoroughly supportive of her career. She wants to complete as many of these assignments as she can to before she becomes a mother. Because once she gets into that role she wouldn’t want any other distractions. That, Aishwarya is sure of.”
LOS ANGELES: Adam Lambert’s debut album is coming out much earlier than planned, some time this summer.
That’s great news for fans of the “American Idol” runner-up, but it could be a big headache for some of the major corporations behind the talent show, who have been beaten to the punch by a pair of small, indie labels.
Before he became a household name, the flamboyant singer spent three years recording songs for Los Angeles-based Wilshire Records. The label has joined forces with Hi Fi Recordings to release the 11-track album “On With the Show” this summer. An exact release date will be announced shortly.
The first single, “Want,” went on sale at digital music retailer iTunes on Tuesday. Lambert co-wrote nine of the songs, working mostly with Madonna’s guitarist, Monte Pittman.
“American Idol” producer 19 Entertainment issued a brief, businesslike statement attributed to Lambert in which he is quoted as saying, “The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on.”
“It doesn’t surprise us, but it doesn’t make us feel good,” Hi Fi Chairman and CEO John Hecker told a UK-based news agency Tuesday. “For some reason it’s scaring Goliath, and I don’t know why.”
He said Lambert attended a post-production session last month, as “American Idol” reached its climax, and that the singer was “blown away” by what he heard.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this in the highly controlled “American Idol” organization. The winner and the runner-up from each season, along with some other finalists, score deals with a Sony Corp label through 19 Entertainment, which is owned by media firm CKX Inc.
Their albums are released with great fanfare in the fall. If they’re lucky — and the odds are against them — the stars will go on to enjoy Grammy-winning success like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
In Lambert’s case, the stakes are high for both sides. The openly gay singer is one of the more colorful performers to emerge from the teeming “American Idol” pool of wannabes. His shock defeat at the hands of Kris Allen this past season that ended in May only added to his mystique, while a Rolling Stone magazine cover story gave him a hint of credibility.
Hecker denied some fans’ assertions that Lambert was being ripped off, saying the singer stands to make “a ton of money” through a royalties arrangement commensurate with deals for major artists. Lambert will not only receive songwriting royalties, but he also co-owns the copyrights with Wilshire, Hecker said.
MUMBAI:’The first brief that I got from my director (Kabir Khan) was that ‘it (the character) is the Katrina whom you have not seen in other films… She is not the one by whom you are intimidated when you see her’.
I have just been myself in the film,” Katrina told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
“I was told ‘look at yourself, the personality you have and the things you go through in real life’… Of course, the situations would be different but Maya is what Katrina is off-screen. She is what I’m in real life,” she added.
Asked if it was a deliberate effort to have a deglamorised look in the film, she said: “When I hear the word deglamorised, I think of someone who has put mud on the face and is wearing dirty clothes… It’s not a deglamorised role… It’s a very realistic role where I bring out what I am in reality.”
Portraying her real characteristics in the movie was also a “different experience” for the 24-year-old. “It was a kind of a challenge in itself, but it was the most wonderful part too,” she said.

Apart from Katrina, it stars John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh in male leads with Irrfan Khan in a pivotal role.
Set in New York, the narrative spreads over nine years. It tells the story of three young friends whose lives take an unexpected turn after 9/11.
“My brief was very clear that Maya is not a Muslim and also that 9/11 attacks are only a backdrop to the film, after which their (the three friends’) lives change and take a turn… it’s about their emotional journey in the film than anything else,” she said.
The Britain-born model-turned-actress’ career soared to heights after she gave four back-to-back hits in 2007 – “Namastey London”, “Apne”, “Partner’, “Welcome” and the first hit of 2008 “Race” in which Katrina played a character with shades of grey. She continued the winning streak with the comedy “Singh Is Kinng”.
Apart from honing her acting skills, Katrina has also begun dubbing her movies on her own with an improved Hindi accent.
“I choose to dub on my own and make the efforts. I try to make it sound correct. Where some other artist might take three days to dub, I take six days, but I am trying very hard,” she averred.
Katrina also denied taking Hindi classes.
“I don’t think I need to take Hindi lessons.”
After predominantly juggling with comedy, Katrina has moved to serious roles with “New York” and Prakash Jha’s “Rajneeti”.
“I’ve just arrived at a point where I am being offered diverse films,” said Katrina who was last seen in Subhash Ghai’s dud “Yuvvraaj”.
Her future projects include a bevy of big-budget ventures like “Blue”, “De Dana Dan” and “Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani”.
The actress is content with her career.
“Everything is given to us by god. All you can do is work hard towards something. I’ve always believed in that and have always tried staying professional and given my best. And I love criticism… you have to take it constructively and move ahead in life,” she said.
According to latest Bollywood buzz, while shooting for the climax of their forthcoming film, John Abraham and Katrina Kaif were involved in some arguments.
One of the unit member reveals that the scene was very difficult to co-ordinate and John’s remarks on the set irritated Katrina even further.
The two got into a major argument and the shoot had to be called off.
Shoot was called off by Kabir Khan because of the bad weather but that anyways helped.
Till the next day Katrina had cooled down and the shooting resumed.

Lindsay Lohan spent the night with 'American Idol' presenter Ryan Seacrest, it has been reported.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress – who is reportedly engaged to her on/off girlfriend Samantha Ronson – has been photographed taking the US radio show host back to her Hollywood home after partying together last Thursday.
A photographer told X17online.com: “Lindsay was obviously trying to hide from the paps. Ryan didn’t seem to care. It was almost as if he was proud to be with Lindsay. Ryan was laughing while Lindsay ducked down behind the seat of the car when the left Hollywood.”
The pair continued their party-for-two until the early hours of the morning when neighbours reportedly called the police to complain about the loud music blasting from her Hollywood mansion.
"I'm kind of a recluse - a hermit. I'm not really out that much because I have a great fear of Hollywood," Contactmusic quoted her assaying.
The Transformers star also mentioned that she fears landing up in a rehab if she turns a party animal. "I think you have to be a really strong human being to survive it, especially if you're a woman.

MUMBAI: A complaint was today lodged against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly making statements against Islam in a magazine.
“We have registered an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan after we received an application from an advocate who alleged that the actor made some statements hurting the sentiments of Muslims,” senior police inspector of Bandra police station, Prakash George, told media.
The complaint was registered by the Mumbai Aman Committee, a religious organisation, against Shah Rukh and the publisher of the magazine and the writer, he said.
“Complainant Khalid Babu Querishi alleged that in the July issue of the Time and Style magazine, Shah Rukh had used unparliamentary language against the Prophet Muhammad which is unacceptable,” George said.
Qureshi, secretary of the committee, claimed: “Shah Rukh Khan bracketed the Prophet along with Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill.”
The case was registered under section 295-a (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religion feelings or any class by insulting its religion beliefs) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common interest) of IPC.
If the case is proved, Khan could go to jail for three years, police said. Khan is presently in the United States and his statement would be taken when he returns; he will not be arrested immediately, said Senior Police Inspector Prakash George. He added: “We will take action after completing the probe.”
On the other hand, Khan said that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Mohammad. “Being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda,” he said.
Referring to protests on the issue, Shah Rukh said, “If they have seen my interviews about Islam and the Prophet, they should know that it is a writing error and not a thought or view I believe in."
NEW DELHI :Past experiences gave a lesson to Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif. Taking a cue from them, Kaif is all set to celebrate her birthday away in London.
She is planning to leave for London for her birthday that falls on July 19. Her family will also be with her.

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s boy-next-door Shahid Kapur, who shot in the fields of Punjab for his hit film Jab We Met, returned to the state for his upcoming movie with Yash Raj Films.
Shahid recently completed a stint in Punjab for tentatively titled Hadippa, co-starring Rani Mukherji. He is now all set to shoot in the fields with Anushka Sharma for another untitled film for the banner.
I’m addicted to this show. It’s a sad situation, young girls getting pregnant and not knowing what to do. I’m a little skeeved out about watching these girls have their lives taped and I wonder what benefit they are getting from allowing this to happen. Is it they don’t want others to wind up pregnant? Or is it their 15 of fame? I dunno, but whatever it is, it keeps me watching.
This week, we meet Farrah who’s pregnant by a guy she describes as “jealous and immature,” and yet he’s the babydaddy?? These girls are choosing real gems for daddies as witnessed by Maci and Ryan from last week’s episode.
What I find fascinating, is that the baby’s daddy only has is voice heard and never appears in the episode. I’m sure if you knew Farrah, you knew who it was but I wonder what he’s doing now? I’m sure he probably was sitting at home when this episode aired tonight and his phone was probably blowing up from people calling him. Like him or not, he contributed half of the DNA and has some rights to the baby. Let’s pray he doesn’t use Sophia as a pawn to get Farrah back.
What’s shocking about these girls too is that how shocked THEY are by others’ reaction about their situation. Farrah was ticked that people were talking about her being pregnant. Like DUH!!! These are high school kids. Of COURSE they are going to talk about how this popular girl got pregnant.
Farrah also had a hard time at home too. Her Dad seems cool but it’s her control freak mom that’s an issue. It’s clear that Farrah was looking for love and wound up getting pregnant but her mom and her icy glance of death probably didn’t help matters any. She tried to control Farrah and look what happened.
The only humanity she showed was when she stayed with Farrah during Sophia’s birth. Otherwise, she was a ice queen throughout the whole episode.
I’m hoping that Farrah can get a job and get the heck away from this woman otherwise, she might wind up like the grandmother from this book.
Kareena Kapoor was upset about not bagging the lead role in Love Aaj Kal, directed by her Jab We Met director Imtiaz Ali and produced by beau Saif Ali Khan. The film’s actress, Deepika Padukone, clears the controversy.
About the rumours of her and Kareena sharing cold vibes, she clarifies, “Whenever I was on set, Kareena was never on set. The whole thing of us ignoring each other is out of the question. She must have come when I had my days off. I never met her on the set. It is untrue that there is any sort of discomfort or negativity between the two of us.”
About Imtiaz casting her instead of Kareena, the newbie says, “Kareena is extremely talented. I am sure she understands that it isn’t possible for a director to work with the same actor again and again. If I was in her place, I would feel the same way if my director with whom I have done a hit film, didn’t work with me. Imtiaz was sure of whom he wanted to cast in the film. In fact, Meera is so similar to me, I used to tease Imtiaz that he was following me while writing the film.”
The actress is already bonding with Priyanka Chopra and is probably looking forward to becoming BFFs with Kareena Kapoor. In praise of the star, she says, “She is a brilliant actress and was fabulous in Jab We Met, which did wonders for her career. I hope Love Aaj Kal does the same for my career as the film is very special to me.”
